Biographical details are scarce. Original art education has led A.-M. Hagen (Hagen). He continued his education in Düsseldorf (since 1836) and Munich.

In 1840 was awarded the title neklassnogo (free) for the artist painting the landscape for his presentation to the Board of IAH painting "View of woods from the valley of Pusteria, in the Tyrol.

lived in Dorpat (since 1845). He worked as a landscape painter, portraitist, studied woodcuts. Sketched and engraved for the various editions of various types of Dorpat, Riga, the Estonian national costumes. From 1860 served as a curator at the Museum of the Estonian academic community.

works are in several museum and private collections.
