Hoffman Oscar Adol'fovich

1851 (Dorpat) - 1912 (St. Petersburg (?))

painter and graphic artist.

graduated from Tartu school. In 1872 he moved to Dusseldorf, where he enrolled in the Academy of Arts. Worked under the guidance of professor of historical painting and landscape Gebgard EE Dyukkera. Since 1876 has participated in various exhibitions. In 1877 he graduated from the course.

In the early 1880's turned to the technique of etching. For his work in this area, was elected a member of the Düsseldorf public akvafortistov. Prints exhibited at the International Exhibition of Graphic Arts in Vienna.

In 1883 he moved to St. Petersburg. Regularly participated in academic exhibitions. In 1884 he was awarded an honorary associate of the Academy of the free IAH. He worked primarily as a genre painter and landscape. Favorite motifs of the works of Hoffmann were domestic scenes of life and the Estonian Baltic landscapes.
