CHUMAKOV, Arkadi Afanasyevich

Painter, graphic artist

son of the court counselor. He studied at the Imperial Academy of arts — Higher art Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture under the Imperial Academy of arts (1887-1897) as a volunteer in the workshop А. И. Куинджи. In 1897, for the painting "Quiet day" was awarded the title of artist. In 1898 together with other students Kuindzhi and travelled to Germany, France, Austria. In 1910-х visited Italy.

he Lived in Moscow, since 1925 — in Sochi. Worked as a landscape painter, marine painter; made paintings related to the history of the Russian fleet.

member of the Society of artists. А. И. Куинджи (1910). A member and Exhibitor of the society of Russian watercolorists (1896-1918). Participated in exhibitions of the Moscow society of art lovers (1896-1918), "Artists — fellow soldiers", watercolors, drawings and graphics of Russian artists (both — 1914), "the works of Moscow artists during the great Patriotic war" (1942), "the Great Patriotic war" (1942-1943) in Moscow, Spring exhibition in the halls of the Imperial Academy of arts (1909) in Petrograd, the exhibition of works of artists of the older generation (1944) in Voronezh.

he Taught drawing and watercolor painting at the Central Stroganov school of technical drawing (1898 — not earlier than 1907; from 1907 — worked in the graphics workshop of the school), a private women's gymnasium О. А. Виноградовой in Moscow (1900-1902).

Works are in several Museum collections, including the State Tretyakov gallery.
