Son driver-железнодорожника. In 1899 вместе with his parents moved to Krasnoyarsk. Information about studying controversial. He studied at the Krasnoyarsk art school (1910-1913; in a number of sources 1912-1916) Д. И. Каратанова, Kazan art school (1913-1917, graduated from; in a number of sources 1923-1924), on the graphic faculty of the Moscow VKhUTEMAS (1923-1924; in a number of sources 1924-1925), in the art Studio М. В. Леблана in Moscow. During the reign of А. В. Колчака in Siberia was in the guard of public safety.

Lived in the town of Novonikolayevsk — Novosibirsk (1925). In 1926 and 1927 together with his wife, artist Н. Н. Нагорской he went out into ethnographic expeditions to the Altai. Worked in publishing-типографском Association "Soviet Siberia" from 1926 — head of illustration Department. Collaborated in the newspaper "Krasnoyarsk worker", Novosibirsk Museum of local lore (1920-е).

Performed genre scenes on the theme of life of the peoples of Siberia. Author of painting works "the Shaman in the tent" (1926), "native women" (1926), "At the cemetery" (1926), "the First tractor in Khakassia", "Akaska in the costume of a matchmaker", "the Girl" (1927), "On the slope" (1927), "Panorama of the right path". Was engaged in woodcut, etching, linocut. Completed a series of etchings "Altai Suite".

Member of-учредитель and Chairman of the society "New Siberia" (1926-1931), member-учредитель and the Chairman of the cooperative partnership "the Artist" (1930-1933), member of the USSR Union of artists (from 1932).

From 1925 — participant of exhibitions (exhibition of paintings in Krasnoyarsk). Exhibited: 1-й all-Siberian exhibition of painting, sculpture, graphics and architecture (1927) in Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk group of artists in Krasnoyarsk (1928), works by artists, seconded to the regions of the industrial building and collective farms in Moscow (1932). Initiator of the all-Siberian Congress of artists in Novosibirsk (1927). Author of articles on art in Siberia Siberian Soviet encyclopedia.

1 февраля 1933 был arrested 5 августа the same year, was sentenced to 10 годам correctional-трудовых camps on charges of counterrevolutionary activity; was serving a sentence in the Solovki camp. In 1937 "Troika" of the NKVD in the Leningrad region was sentenced to capital punishment. Shot. In 1958 реабилитирован.

Work is represented in many Museum collections, among them — Novosibirsk state art Museum, Krasnoyarsk art Museum. В. И. Сурикова.
