From the family of hereditary painters; with three years — orphan; brother artist-палешанина М. П. Вакурова. Studied at icon-painting workshop Н. М. Сафонова (Safonova) in Palekh (1893-1899), up to 1915 worked in it. In 1915-1924 he worked in various workshops of icon painting in Palekh and Moscow (М. П. Парилова, А. Д. Салаутина, Ashurova, А. А. Глазунова). Engaged in the restoration of icons in St. Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod, the frescoes of the Holy-Преображенского Mirozhsky monastery in Pskov, the Holy Trinity-Сергиевой Lavra, Yuriev monastery. Painted Church Svjatoozerskaja monastery in Vladimir province. In 1919-1922 he worked as a draftsman-копиистом on the construction of the railway in the village of Kambarka of the Perm province; in parallel — artist and makeup artist in the people's house in Kambarka.

From 1926 — artist Palekh artel of ancient painting. Served as the paintings on papier-маше (boxes, cartons, compacts, boxes, plates, trays, cinici, jewelry) in literature, folklore, daily life themes, themes of Soviet reality: "a Woman with a sheaf" (1923), "Revolutionary village" (1924), "Serfdom", "the deer Hunt", "In the field" (all — 1925), "Soldier", "Weaver" (both — 1926), "Forest fairy tale" (1926), "Burevestnik" (1928, options — 1931, 1935), "the Dance" (1928), "the Night of Ivan Kupala" (1929), "Strokey", "socialist reconstruction" (both — 1932), "Demon" (1934), "women soldiers of the fields" (1937), "Chapaev in battle" (1930-40-е, various), "National avenger" (1943), "Victory" (1945), "Yaroslavna's Crying" (1946, diploma "Vsekohudozhnik"), "salutes the Motherland" (1946), "Three heroes" (1949), "the stag Hunt" (1956). Author of numerous compositions on themes of works А. С. Пушкина ("the Tale of Tsar Saltan", "Tale of the fisherman and the fish", "Ruslan and Lyudmila", "the Devils", "prisoner of the Caucasus") and М. Ю. Лермонтова ("Song of the merchant Kalashnikov", "novice").

Created patterns for fabrics and original compositions to playing cards; was engaged in painting of porcelain. Participated in the painting of the Ivanovo House of pioneers ("Chess room", 1938), the pavilion of the Central regions of the RSFSR on VSHV (1939). Designed the performance "the snow maiden" on the play А. Н. Островского a work of art (1936, not built). He drew illustrations to the books: "the stormy Petrel" А. М. Горького (1936), "the Tale of the Golden Cockerel" А. С. Пушкина (M.: Academia, 1937). Worked in poster art ("Chapaev").

Since 1923 — participated in exhibitions. A member of the Union of artists of the USSR. Exhibited: art works for 10-летнему the anniversary of the October revolution (1928), "the Art of Palekh" (1932), "Russian lacquer art" (1933), folk art (1937), all-Union art exhibitions (1939 — "industry of socialism", 1947), the "Great Patriotic war" (1943), "Pushkin in the works of folk artists of the RSFSR" (1949), the Republican exhibition of works of folk-прикладного art and art industry of the RSFSR (1952), "30 лет art of the Soviet Palekh" (1955), "the Soviet theme in the art of Palekh" (1958), a "40 лет art of the Soviet Palekh" (1965) in Moscow; Regional art exhibitions in Ivanovo (1937, 1947). Participant of several international exhibitions: XIV International art exhibition in Venice (1924, diploma 1-й degree), International exhibition art-декоративных arts in Paris (1925, honorary diploma, gold and bronze medals), world exhibitions in Paris (1937, diploma of honour). His personal exhibitions were held in Palekh (1955, 1965).

he Taught at the Palekh art school (the Palekh art school; 1928-1968). Honored art worker of the RSFSR (1935), people's artist of the RSFSR (1956).

Work is represented in many Museum collections, among them — of the State Tretyakov gallery, State Russian Museum, the Museum of decorative-прикладного and folk art, the Museum of А. С. Пушкина, Ivanovo regional art Museum, State Museum of Palekh art in Palekh.
